Pimples don’t seriously affect your physical health, but they can affect you psychosocially (how society and social groups affect your mind) and psychologically (your self-perception and behavior)
Maybe you have an important meeting today. Maybe you’re going on a date, meeting friends, taking pictures, or simply want to feel confident when you step outside. But now you’re constantly checking the mirror, touching the spot, or thinking about how to make it disappear.
These are small bumps with a visible white or pale center. They happen when pores become clogged with oil, dead skin cells and other debris. Because they can look like tiny white spots on the skin, they can be especially noticeable up close.
Blackheads are small dark spots that form when clogged pores remain open and the material inside reacts with air. Despite their appearance, the dark color is not simply dirt. They can appear around the nose, forehead, chin and other areas where oil production is higher.
Papules are small, raised, red or pink bumps that can feel tender when touched. Unlike whiteheads, they usually don’t have a visible white center, which makes squeezing them especially tempting even though there may be nothing to squeeze.
Pustules are the classic “whitehead” type of inflamed pimple. They are usually red around the base with a visible white or yellowish center containing pus. These are the types of pimples that many people are tempted to pop.
Cystic pimples are larger, deeper and often painful bumps that develop beneath the surface of the skin. They can feel hard or tender and may take longer to settle than ordinary surface pimples.
Nodules are also deep, firm and inflamed bumps that develop underneath the skin. They can be painful and usually do not have a visible head that can simply be squeezed.
The hydrocolloid patch creates a protective layer over the affected area while helping absorb fluid from superficial pimples. More importantly, it gives you a simple barrier between your pimple and your fingers, helping you avoid the constant touching and picking that can irritate your skin.
